Emergency Management Simcoe County recognizes student winner – Daniella Henry

A presentation will be made by Warden Cal Patterson on January 15th in Wasaga Beach regarding the County of Simcoe’s Student Emergency Preparedness Program.
During Emergency Preparedness week in May, 2012, the County’s Emergency Management Department launched the Student Emergency Preparedness (STEP) Program, a free educational program for elementary students in Simcoe County.
Presented by Emergency Management staff, and on numerous occasions in partnership with local emergency response services, approximately 1000 students have taken part and learned basic information on emergency preparedness including what types of emergencies to prepare for in Simcoe County, how to create a family emergency plan and what to include in an emergency preparedness kit.
Students were also given the opportunity to answer a skill-testing question and enter a draw for a Canadian Red Cross 72-Hour disaster kit. Warden Cal Patterson will be presenting the Emergency Kit to Daniella Henry, a grade 6 student at Birchview Dunes Elementary School on Jan. 15, 2013 at 1:45 p.m.
