  •  There is an important cross country meeting today in the gym at 1st break.  It will only take a few minutes so come quickly at the bell.  Even though it is cross country, please don’t run to the gym.   Good luck at tomorrow’s race.
  • In the words of local 5 and 10 K runner C. Brooks,  “I run because long after my footprints fade away, maybe I will have inspired a few to reject the easy path, hit the trails, put one foot in front of the other, and come to the same conclusion I did: I run because it always takes me where I want to go.”
  •  Friday is sports day. Come dressed in your favourite sports gear or as your favourite sport personality.
  •  All pita envelopes are due in the office at 10:35, whether there are orders or not.  Please have a student bring down your envelopes now.  Thank you
  •  This is a reminder that there will be an intermediate boys volleyball tryout tomorrow after school from 3:30pm – 5:00pm. Any interested intermediate males are invited to attend. • Attention all cross country runners- remember there is a training run today at 1st break to get ready for Wednesday’s race in Creemore.  That’s right – you’ll be running very close to the black security gates of Ms. Duits’ house on Wednesday.  Also, there will be a meeting about the race on Tuesday at 1st break – it won’t be a long one so 4s and 5s don’t need to bring lunches.  See you at the run today.  In the words of local runner C. Brooks, “Run when you can, walk if you have to, crawl if you must; just never give up.”
  • Congratulations to Jillian Allcock who represented Birchview at the first ever Collingwood Junior A hockey game. Jillian did us proud as she sang Oh Canada to a packed crowd. Great job Jillian!!
  •  Attention Flag Football team members.  There will be a practice tomorrow morning at 8:00 am.  Please make sure you dress for the weather.
  •  The first intermediate boys volleyball tryout will be this Wednesday after school from 3:30pm until 5:00pm. Please make sure you have appropriate gym attire, and that you’ve pre-arranged a ride home. If you have any questions, please see Mr. Besley beforehand.

Daily Announcements

Thursday September 25, 2014

  •  The following announcement is brought to you by Birchview’s Eco Team.  It was another close race this week for the coveted Waste Free Wednesday Trophies. In recent weeks, Mrs. Tiessinga, Mrs. Duits, Mr. Brooks, and Mrs. Ewaskiw’s classes have been the classes to beat. Will the Eco Warrior trophies find a new home this week? The answer is… a resounding NO. Mrs. Tiessinga, Mr. Brooks, Mrs. Duits, and Miss Ewaskiw’s classes have raised the bar again this week, defeating their competition. It looks like the rest of us are going to have to dig deeper into that Tupperware drawer next week if we stand a chance against these formidable opponents. Good luck next week everyone. Remain calm and buy bulk.
  •  Mr. Pinkerton would like to see any Eco Team members who are interested in helping tonight at this evenings Meet the Teacher Night. He is looking for responsible students who are able help at the recycling and compost stations that will be set up on the tarmac this evening. Come to Mr. Pinkerton’s portable following announcements if you are interested.
  •  Thank you to the 11 students who attended the flag football practice this morning.  We look forward to seeing everyone at practice next Tuesday at 8:00 am.  Enjoy your long weekend.
