Daily Announcements

Tuesday September 24, 2013

  • Terry Fox ran close to 42 km a day through Canada’s Atlantic provinces, Quebec and Ontario. Each day he would start his run at the exact spot that he finished the night before by marking them with a pile of rocks.
  •  Only two more days to go until our annual Terry Fox Run on Thursday. We are approaching the $400 mark, but we can do better than that Birchview! Donations will be accepted until Thursday, and thank you to those who have already donated!
  • Due to the Terry Fox run on Thursday, the cross country practice after school on Thursday will be cancelled.  All runners on the team are expected to jog, not walk during the Terry Fox run in order for it to count as a practice.  Grades 4 and 5 – try to complete 5 full laps and grades 6-8 – six full laps.  We know the laps are bigger, but you have more time to complete them.  Remember – if Terry can do a full marathon each day, we can work hard to jog 5 or 6 laps.
  •  If you are a student in grade four, five or six and are interested in playing intramural volleyball during second nutrition breaks please come to the gym today for a quick meeting to learn more at the beginning of second nutrition break.  That’s today in the gym at the beginning of second nutrition break.
  • Intermediate girls basketball tryouts continue today at 10:35; first recess. Bring gym clothes and your lunches as this tryout runs until 11:15.
