  • The following announcement is brought to you by the Birchview Dunes Eco Team.   Next week is Waste Reduction Week in Ontario. Schools and businesses everywhere will be acting for the planet by eliminating the millions of pounds of garbage we produce every day. You can participate by bringing a Waste Free Lunch every day next week.   And the winners of this week’s Waste Free Lunch challenge are…Mrs Tiessinga’s Kindergartener’s 7 lunches narrowly beats Mrs. White’s class with 5. In primary, Mrs. Elton’s class keeps the Eco Kids trophy with 11 lunches, beating out Mr. Brooks with 8. In Junior, Mr. Pinkerton’s class tied Mr. Underhill’s class, each with 11. The Intermediate Eco Warrior trophy would have been a tie at 5 between Mr. Pike and Mrs. Ewaskiw, but Mrs Ewaskiw’s lunch packing skills gives her class the win with 6. No pressure Mr. Pike!  Congratulations to everyone who brings containers. You are making a difference in the world.
  •  Let’s hope the rain holds off as Mr. Pinkerton’s class plans to plant a native species garden near the front of the school. Teachers, feel free to check out the action during middle block.
  •  The Jr. boy’s basketball team are reminded of their practice today at 2nd nutrition break.
