Grade One Students – All Receiving Boy Soup Book

Message from The Canadian Children’s Book Centre

For the thirteenth year in a row the Canadian Children’s Book Centre is delighted to give each Grade One student in your school a beautiful Canadian children’s book, thanks to the very generous sponsorship of TD Bank Group. This year we are especially proud to be offering Boy Soup, published by Annick Press, written by Loris Lesynski and illustrated by Michael Martchenko. It is an amusing tale of a girl rescuing her boy pals from an ogre who wants to make them into soup!

Since 2000, in cooperation with ministries of education, school boards and library organizations across Canada, the Canadian Children’s Book Centre has coordinated the production and distribution of a great Canadian picture book to be given to every Grade One child in Canada. Over 500,000 books in English and French are distributed each year. This far-reaching and innovative annual program is fully funded by TD Bank Group.

Each book is our gift to one of your Grade One students and is meant to be taken home by them to read with their parents. Our goal is to help all Canadian children to develop a love of reading and a passion for books and what better way than with the gift of a wonderful Canadian picture book!
