Holiday Post Office

The Birchview Dunes  Holiday Post Office

December 6th to December 18th, 2014

Dear Families,

Our school will once again be celebrating goodwill and literacy through a Holiday Post Office, located outside the Birchview Dunes Library.

Our students (Kindergarten to Grade 6) will be encouraged to write letters, postcards and cards to each other and send them through our “post office” for distribution.  Some of our Grade 5 students will be transformed into Holiday Postal ELVES and they will be ensuring all letters have stamps and proper addresses. Our Elves will be delivering mail to classroom’s mailboxes daily.

Students will be writing positive holiday messages to each other in proper letter writing format. Old Christmas cards can be cut in half and the back of the picture can be used as a post card, or students may use regular paper to write a letter and fold it in half to make its own envelope.  Placing the correct sender and return address format on the message will be encouraged to ensure letters arrive at the proper destination.  “Stamps” (stickers, hand-drawn facsimiles etc) need to be affixed to the upper right hand corner

Parents and family members are encouraged to send their children’s mail through our system.  “Big Buddies” and “Reading Buddies” from older classes will be encouraged to write messages to our younger students.

The classroom addresses are listed on the next page.  Students can deposit the letters in the library mail box.

Thank you, in advance, for your enthusiastic support of our literacy initiatives through our Holiday Post Office.  If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me at 429-2251.

Sincerely,

Judy Kaufman
