  • Today is Waste Free Wednesday. Green Team please come to Mr. Pinkerton’s room following announcements.
  • Could all emcees please meet with Mrs. Dea during first block today.
  • Mrs. Monahan’s class would like to thank everyone who was able to come to yesterday’s invention convention. It was a huge success because of you! Thank you!
  • Monday is twin day. So pick a friend and dress as twins for the day.
  • There will be a sign up in Mr. Edwards room during first nutrition break for all grade 7 and 8 boys and girls interested in playing rugby. Please make sure you make your way to Mr. Edwards room for signup at first nutrition break.  Tryouts will begin very shortly.

  • Could all students participating in the talent show acts outside of band, drumline and choir come for an important meeting during 2nd break today in Mr. McLean’s room.  Again, all acts excluding choir, drumline and band please come at 2nd break for a brief but important meeting.  
  • The junior BOYS and GIRLS will have practices today during both recesses. They will practice together with Mr. Osborn. Of course this is weather permitting; if it’s an indoor recess then the practice is cancelled. Again, both junior GIRLS and BOYS basketball teams have practices today during both recesses. Bring any permission slips for tomorrow’s tournament, your lunches, and indoor shoes.

  • Mr. Pinkerton would like to see all recyclers and Waste Free Wednesday helpers who have helped out since January 2014.  Why should you go to his room after announcements at 10:35 today?  You should go because he is making sure you are on the Green Team list in order to receive your Spirit Points.
  • Mr. Carson would like to thank all staff, students and families that came out to the Pita Pit last night for his Roll Across Ontario cancer fundraiser. With sales and donations combined, $372.72 was raised. The next Wasaga Beach Pita Pit fundraiser will be on Thursday, June 19th.

  • Ten junior girls represented Birchview Dunes extremely well last night during their mini basketball tournament; “Battle of the Beach”. The girls played Worsley and St. Noel showing tremendous skill and sportsmanship. They made plays and worked well as a team. Congratulations on a great night. A big thank you goes to Jordan S. for staying after school and time keeping and to Sarah T. for her photography skills. Next practice will be Monday morning at 10:35; see you there!
  • It is Day 4.  Mr. McLean is here today in meetings.  Choir and band are both on.   This choir practice is an important one as we missed last week.  Please meet in Mr. McLean’s room at the bell. Band – we’ll see you after school today.  
  • There will be a junior boys basketball practice today at First Break.  
  • Congratulations to this week’s Waste Free Wednesday winners. In the primary division, Mr. Pinkerton’s class will be passing the Eco-Kids trophy to Mrs. Hackett’s class, who just squeaked by Mrs. Degagne and Mrs. Emond. The Intermediate Eco Warrior Trophy goes to…..Mrs. Dea’s class once again. Well done! The Junior Eco Warrior Trophy goes to…Mr. Sammons class, yet again, followed closely by Mrs. Duit’s class. The Kindergarten Earth Protector trophy will be announced tomorrow. Every container you bring helps to make our world a cleaner, better place to live. Happy Earth Week Birchview!
  • The movie REVOLUTION will be shown tonight at the Gayety theatre in Collingwood at 7pm. It is in support of the Collingwood seed library. Check it out if you can.

  • Today is Waste Free Wednesday. Green Team please come to Mr. Pinkerton’s room following announcements.
  • We have now finished counting the donations for Jump Rope for Heart.  We are excited to announce that we raised $6699.15.  Thank you to all of you who helped us raise money for such a great cause.  We are looking forward to our Jump Rope for Heart Day on June12th.
  • Junior girls have a practice today in the gym at 10:35. Please make sure you have your permission forms for tonight’s mini-tournament at Birchview.
  • Thank you to all the students that participated in the Earth Day Swap out in the portable yesterday. We hope you enjoy your new toy or books. Special thanks to the crew that helped set-up, organize and take-down the swap, those students include:  Michael, Kaitlyn, Sheldon, Steven, Jacob, Riley, Dominic, Ethan and Jamie. The event could not have run so smoothly without your assistance! There are some free books outside the library so help yourself and if you didn’t participate this year, keep in mind to participate next year.

 

Roll Across Ontario Update

The next Pita Pit fundraiser for Mr. Carson’s skate is tomorrow night (Thursday) in Wasaga Beach. 20% of sales between 4-9 will be directly donated to Roll Across Ontario.

We will have a special Roll Across Ontario Day to support Mr. Carson’s skate here at Birchview in June – details to follow.

  • Attention Junior Boys Basketball Team:  There will be a basketball practice first break today – weather pending.  
  • Junior girl’s basketball practice today at 12:55 in the gym. Please wait for Mr. Osborn before entering.
  • It is Tuesday – drum line is on for after school today.  We will be practicing in the library after school.  This is an important drumline rehearsal – if you haven’t made transportation arrangements yet, please do so before the end of the day. 
  • Happy Earth Day Birchview! Our planet is the most important thing we’ve got. And, we only have one! Let’s make every day Earth Day.  Bring Waste Free Lunches all week and do your part to care for our planet, each and every day.
  • Intermediate talent show auditions – today is the last chance to audition in Mr. McLean’s room at 2nd break for grade 7 and 8 students.
