Beginning tomorrow, breakfast will be served to students before the morning entry bell.

 

Children will be welcomed to stop in Room 108 for a healthy breakfast to help get ready for learning.

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day!

Are you interested in a volunteer opportunity to help out at our new BREAKFAST@BIRCHVIEW program?  We are looking for individuals to donate about an hour of your time, 1-2 times per week.  If you can help, please email Mrs. Laybolt at slaybolt@scdsb.on.ca.

Peter Pan Show and Ticket Information

Tuesday, April 8th

Tuesday at 11:30 is our official dress rehearsal  (Kindergarten B and Junior Division to watch)

Wednesday April 9th

– 11:30 First Performance  (Kindergarten A and Intermediates to watch)

– 6:30pm Second Performance

Thursday April 10th

– 6:30 pm Final Performance

 Popcorn and drinks will be available for purchase at the evening shows.

Tickets are now on sale for $2 each.  If you would like purchase tickets but you do not have a child in the production, send a note regarding what show you would like to attend and the number of tickets you would like, along with your payment – to Mrs. Wonta in Room 202.

  • Junior girls’ basketball practice in the gym today from 10:35 to 11:15.
  • Attention Junior Boys: If you are interested in trying out for the Junior boys basketball team please sign up today at break.  The sign  up sheets are located outside Mrs. Napasney’s room.  Room 135 at the end of the intermediate hall.  Tryouts will begin THIS WEEK.  Please listen to announcements for your tryout time

  • Junior girls basketball practice is today at 10:30 in the gym.  Bring your permission forms, lunches and indoor shoes.
  • There will be a meeting for the intermediate hockey team at 10:35 outside Mr. Brooks’ room.  Tournament schedules will be available for pick up.
  • Good luck to the following students as they travel to Bear Creek High School in Barrie this weekend for the Simcoe County Science Fair: Breanna S., Emma O., Taylor S., Paige T., Leah A., Emma C., Kassidy S. and Emma C.

Thursday March 27, 2014

  • Please return all jump rope envelopes as soon as possible.
  • The twelve junior girls that made the basketball team must bring their permission forms to Mr. Osborn, in room 228, at 10:35 today.
  • Yesterday our intermediate hockey team participated in their area tournament at the Wasaga Stars Arena. In their first game against W.C. Little, our team played well right from the start, getting out to an early lead and did not look back. With hat tricks from Josh C. and Shane P., and strong goaltending from Jacob D. and Brodie D., our team cruised to a 12-2 win. In the second game against Byng, our team once again had a quick start and had great goaltending throughout the game.  With a late goal for Byng in the third, the game finished with a 2-2 tie. It was a very exciting game and, with the tie, our team now moves on to the final tournament next week in Bradford.
  • The Intermediate Eco Warrior Trophy winners are…Mr. McLean’s class, again!  Mrs. Napasney’s class is hot on their heels, missing out by only 1 lunch. The Junior Eco Warrior Trophy goes to the reigning champions, Mr. Sammons class, closely followed by Mrs. Sutherlands and Mrs. Hughes. The Primary Eco Kids Trophy winners are…..Mr. Brooks and Mrs. Emond’s class. And the Kindergarten Earth Protector Trophy winners are Mrs. Shackell and Mrs. White’s class. Congratulations to all the winners, but remember that when you cut down on your garbage, everybody wins with cleaner water, air, and soil to grow our food.

  • Today is Waste Free Wednesday. Thank you for helping the environment. Green Team please go to Mr. Pinkerton’s room at 10:35.
  • Good luck to our intermediate hockey team who play in their area tournament today. The players need to be dismissed at 1:00 to be ready for our first game at 2:00. Our team plays Byng and WC Little. There will be a brief meeting outside Mr. Brooks at first recess.

  • Yesterday Makenna M, Ashton B, Maddox W and Terry M represented our school at the Simcoe County Chess Tournament.  It was a great effort from our team!  Congratulations to Makenna for finishing in second place.  A special thank you to Mr. Wonta for all his help to get them ready for this tournament! 
  • Peter Pan Rehearsals today: 2:30 Practice-Grade One Choir – Room 205, Grade Two Choir- Room 202, Grade Three Choir- Room Monahan, Scene H in the Library, Scene D in the portable (meet in front of the office).

Peter Pan Tickets

Tickets are now available for $2 each.  Each family is allowed 5 tickets.

Requests for extra tickets will be filled March 31st.

As of April 1st, the remaining tickets will be sold on a first come first serve basis.
