  • Today is Waste Free Wednesday. Thank you for helping the environment. Green Team go to Mr. Pinkerton’s room at 10:35.
  •  The spirit team is holding an Olympic themed door decorating contest to celebrate the 2014 Olympics.  One class from each division will be awarded a hot chocolate party for the best decorated door.  All doors will need to be completed by 3:15 on Wed. Feb. 5th.  Criteria:  must cover the whole door and include the rings, year and location of the Olympics.
  •  There will be a brief introductory meeting for any students in grades 4 to 8 interested in joining our school chess club, today (Wednesday), right after these announcements, at 10:35, in the library. No experience is necessary. Mrs. Monahan will be taking and tracking attendance for all students interested in playing for the school chess team.
  •  Junior girl’s intramural basketball is cancelled today due to graduation photos in the gym. Please look at the schedule posted outside the gym to see who plays on Monday. See you then.
  •  Mr. Pinkerton hopes to see lots of cross country ski club members signing up and skiing after school tomorrow. The big race is coming up on Feb. 20! The weather is forecasted to be warmer and the conditions are great. Permission forms are available from the office or Mr. Pinkerton. Happy trails!
  •  Peter Pan Cast – First Break, Scenes B and F in the library with your lunch and duotangs.

  • Attention Boys’ Basketball team members – There will be a shooting practice only today at first break from 10:35 until the first bell.  We look forward to seeing you then.  With all of your forms filled in.
  •  The Peace Promoters have a meeting at 1:15 in Ms. Winstone’s room.  Please bring your lunch. 
  •  Peter Pan Cast – First Break:  A and B, Second Break: J. Don’t forget your duotang!

Kindergarten Registration

Parents can register children born in 2010 for Kindergarten starting Jan. 27

Kindergarten registration is open at all Simcoe County District School Board (SCDSB) schools starting Monday, Jan. 27. Children born in 2010 can start Kindergarten in September 2014. Parents can call 705-734-6363 x11291 to find out which school their child will attend.

Full-Day Kindergarten

  • There will be a basketball practice today at 10:35 weather permitting.  If it is an indoor recess we will not have a pratice today.
  • Attention all Peter Pan cast – There will be a rehearsal for all cast members in scene E at first nutrition break in the library and scene G at 2nd nutrition break in the library….that is scene E at first nutrition break and scene G at 2nd nutrition break. Please be prompt and don’t forget your lunch and script.
  •  Cross country skiing after school will be cancelled today due to freezing temperatures. Mr. Pinkerton will be skiing after school tomorrow if the weather is warmer. You are welcome to go skiing tomorrow, Friday, after school with Mr. PInkerton if you make the proper arrangements with your parents. Same rules apply, sign in at first recess on Friday.
  • Thank you Birchview for reducing your garbage and energy use. This weeks Waste Free Wednesday winners are Braden, Emma O., Jacynta L., Jocelyn D., Dakota W., Sam G., Brooke M., Fenton A., Jackson M., and Mikaela in Mrs. Duncans class. Keep taking care of our earth. Every little bit helps. Come see Mr. Pinkerton in Rm 203 at the end of the primary hall.

  • Attention Peter Pan cast – the stars will meet with Mrs. Hackett in the library at second nutrition break.  Peter Pan Scenes C and D will meet first break in the library.

 

  • If you are a member of the Birchview Dunes Cross Country Ski Club and plan to ski tomorrow after school, please make sure you discuss with your parents the possibility of a cancellation due to freezing temperatures. If it’s an outdoor recess tomorrow, we will likely be skiing after school. Remember to sign in at first break tomorrow. Anyone can join the ski club, anytime. Happy trails!

 

Cold Weather Today

Parents,

Due to the extreme cold weather students Did Not go outside for recess.  The grade 5s and the 5/6 class did not go cross country skiing due to the weather conditions.
