College and University Students Can Apply to be Tutors in SCDSB Classrooms

The Simcoe County District School Board (SCDSB) invites applications for the SCDSB’s Tutors in the Classroom program. This program allows students who are currently enroled in post-secondary education (Ontario Colleges and Universities) to work in Simcoe County public elementary schools as tutors with a focus on literacy and numeracy. Applicants must be returning to full- or part-time post-secondary studies in the fall.

Post-secondary students interested in applying must pre-register for one of the following evenings, as described below:

Interviews and information sessions for potential tutors will be conducted at the SCDSB Education Centre (1170 Hwy. 26, Midhurst) on February 19, February 21 and February 26, 2013, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. This process includes professional learning for candidates in the following areas: literacy, numeracy and technology-enabled learning environments.

We have confirmed that the host school sites will be open and that our guests are prepared to present.  The forecast from Environment Canada suggests that whatever mother nature may have in store for us by way of nasty weather will happen late in the evening and/or overnight.

Therefore, we will proceed with tonight’s System School Council Meeting.  The time of the meeting is 6:30 – 8:30 pm and will be hosted at Stayner Collegiate

Please exercise personal judgment with respect to your own transportation circumstances.
